Bourbon & Beyond lineup | New brewery

We can feel the electricity starting to buzz through the air — can’t we Louisville.

I’m Kirby Adams, the Courier Journal’s Lifestyle reporter and for me, the first sign that Kentucky Derby season is finally upon us is entering the Grand Ballroom at Caesars Southern Indiana for the annual Macy’s Spring Fashion Show produced by the Kentucky Festival. Wow, what a show it was, featuring the latest trends like microminis and bare midriffs and, of course, dozens and dozens of gorgeous hats and fascinators.

My job between now and Kentucky Derby Day, May 7, is to keep you up to date on everything Derby-related. But of course, there is always much more going on in our city besides Derby fun, and that’s where the entire Features Team is hard at work.

This week’s newsletter has something for everyone whether you love outdoor music festivals, craft beer, spending time with your family at free local events, or getting dressed for the racetrack. This week our Kentucky Derby fashion feature is for the guys.

The wildly popular Bourbon & Beyond Music Festival announced its musical lineup this week and it is loaded with top performers. The festival isn’t until September but tickets are already on sale.

Ready to grab a craft beer and check out a new bar in NuLu? Food and beverage writer Dahlia Ghabour sniffs out a new late-night ‘worldly, bohemian’ bar called The Corridor Bar that is ready to open in this trendy part of town.

We don’t know how Gege Reed does it but once again she’s rounded up more than 60 things to do in and around Louisville during the month of April. Scan through her column and you’ll find Earth Day events, Easter happenings, Kentucky Derby Festival traditions, and even something called The Safari EGGventure.

The Courier Journal’s Features Team, which also includes Maggie Menderski, Jason Gonzalez, Lennie Omalza, Dana McMahan and our editor Kathryn Gregory, has you covered when it comes to things to do, people to know and what’s trending in Louisville.

As you can probably tell, we have a lot of fun at our jobs and if you enjoyed this newsletter, feel free to forward it to a friend, so they can sign up here and stay in the know, too.
